Another year older...

Ok, so the last time I posted a blog it sort of got lost in cyberspace which killed any blogging desire for a few weeks. So I will try again. Today was my birthday and true to fashion my other half was on call which meant it was just another day. I think I have been on call for the last 5 years of my life, so I've become accustomed to not celebrating. In fact, I am a bit of a gringe when it comes to my birthday. Some people like to walk around and say aloud, "what are you gonna get me for my birthday..." or better yet they make dinner reservations at the most expensive restaurant and then subject their friends to it. Not me...I would just like to sink my birthday into the deepest hole and never have it resurface if I could. I do like it though to get the odd present...this year was a red Nancy Bird "circle" purse that set me back almost my entire month's budget.

Not much is new is Julia land. We had another vomitting episode yesterday. We ate at the same hamburger place we always do and then had gelato from the same place we always do. This time her hives started around 20 minutes to 1/2 hour after she had the Gelato. We were riding home and she started to whimper like crazy...we were just ignoring her and then when I got her out of her seat she was hugging me tight tight...I got inside and she vomitted a little on me and that is when I noticed the hives...big ones and her face, ears, arms and legs looked sunburned. We gave her 3 mls of Benadryl right away and then she continued to sit on my lap just wanting to be hugged, thankfully no more vomitting. Given that she yells "NO" every time I ask for a hug these days I'll take it...but still. It sucks. One other vomitting episode stands out in my mind as it was right after eating after eating Gelato...I remember being annoyed with my MIL and hubby for not watching how they were touching her with their ice creams and also I noticed that the ice cream lady washed the ice cream scoop in that mucky water. Yesterday's reaction was so intense that I am almost sure it had to be nut related..unless her milk allergies are getting worse...which makes me sad because we really really would like Julia to at least outgrow her dairy allergies. I can forgo the eggs, the sesame seeds, the nuts..but for the love of cheese, please pleeeeeese let her outgrow her milk allergy!

Otherwise bunny is doing great. Lots of words. She knows all kinds of words: strawberry, neck, knee. Of course she still likes to point at most people's hats and shoes and then there all the bikes and cars. Today on the train she tried a simple "HI" with a smile combo and she liked the melted heart response.

Mama Mojo

I know that everyone has hard days as a parent...but the last few days have seriously been bringing my mommy mojo to an all time low. You know when you say to yourself I really need to make myself a drink (of H20) because it is 0845 and I have not had a drop of fluid since I have woken and then somehow you find yourself sucked into that magical mystical universe that runs on toddler time and it's now 930 and you are handed yet another board book by a little person. The weirdest part is that I used look fwd to getting out of the house and now I am somewhat embarrassed at the park. She stalks all people with food and this after refusing breakfast and snacks from me. She just stands there and does he little rolling shoulders, or worse she just sits down with other families as tough she is one of their kids. And she is obsessed with newborns. Today we saw Trina, a scottish mom with her 3 mo old bub Clive and she was breastfeeding him while sitting on a bench> Julia jumped right on up and was yanking on Clive's leg, getting a close up of Trina's breast and calling it "bebbie, bebbie." I know that what she calls breast (note to self, must call them breasts and not boobs, come on!) but Trina thought she was saying "baby, baby!" Such a clever girl, Trina says. Oh Trina if only you knew my child's ulterior motive.
And then there is the library. She spent the entire time pushing a plasic toddler table through the aisles. Take a look:

Date night.

We went for Korean food at Sori's with Matt, Rosie and Ben. Julia is definitely getting more mobile...if you let her keep running she would just run all the way to end of the block. Ben seems to slowly warm up to Julia, at the end they were hugging eachother non-stop. Julia would then run up to an complete stranger woman sitting in front of the Thai massage parlor and climb into her lap and also hug her?!?!?! Excuse me?
